Payment & Insurance
The American healthcare system is the Wild West, and it can often be difficult for people to find quality mental healthcare. Read on to find out how I'm doing my part to provide sustainable, affordable mental healthcare in Nevada.
What is Superbilling?
I charge your card on file after each session. My rate is $150 per session. No surprises and no guessing. I have partnered with Mentaya to make submitting a claim for reimbursement as easy as possible through courtesy claims billing.
Your insurance company can explain what your out-of-network (OON) deductible, co-insurance, or copays are, or they may list them in your annual Summary of Benefits and Coverage. I have partnered with Mentaya so you can quickly check your coverage.
Many insurance providers allow online superbill submission, and Mentaya will complete the process for you for a small fee. Although insurance companies vary widely, some will pay up to 80% of the cost of your therapy.
Why don't you accept insurance?
Benefits are often difficult to anticipate.
When I accepted insurance, coverage was more confusing than clients expected. Deductibles, co-insurance, and benefits are often difficult to anticipate or understand, leaving clients confused and frustrated. No one should spend hours on hold with their insurance company, and no therapist should work for free. Instead, I offer simple superbills to my clients for reimbursement from their insurance company.
Flexibility and Privacy
I believe my clients should drive our work together. Insurance companies prefer modalities and interventions that don't work for everyone. I want the freedom to tailor treatment to each person. Without insurance dictating care, we can move seamlessly from deep work to maintenance to coaching and back again.
Many of my clients value their privacy. Some choose not to use insurance so their mental health or substance use diagnoses aren't shared with their insurance company.
Reduced Caseload
Many therapists pay third-party billing companies just to navigate insurance claims red tape, adding significant cost. Recently, some insurance companies have stopped covering hour-long sessions and ask therapists to only spend 37 minutes with their clients! Low rates often push therapists to carry large caseloads, leaving less time for research, training, and consultation.
Not accepting insurance means I keep a smaller caseload and can provide individualized care.
Accessible Therapy Initiative
I believe that quality mental health care should be accessible for all. I am excited to announce that I am now an Open Path Psychotherapy Collective provider. Find out more:
I do reserve sliding scale appointments for those that cannot afford my cash pay rate and do not have insurance for superbilling. To see if I have sliding scale appointments available, please call 702-305-6795 or use the contact form below.
